IL FOLLO

Follo is an agricultural village in the municipality of Valdobbiadene in the province of Treviso. It is located on one of the hills descending from the foothills of the Alps of Veneto toward the course of the River Piave. The farm, owned by the Follador family, is called 'IL FOLLO' and is situated on the slope of a hill facing the west (Piagar). The farm is encircled by five hectares of vineyards climbing the slopes where Prosecco vines were planted over the centuries, taking away land from ash trees, chestnut trees, brambles and butcher's broom (Rustot). In the annexed winery, still and sparkling wines are made with modern oenological techniques.

Many family names originate from the work done over the centuries by people of those families. Follador's were those who cultivated agricultural products and converted them into consumption goods. In the dialect of Veneto follare l'uva still means to press grapes in order to make wine. Many generations of  the Follador family have been doing this kind of work in the hills of Valdobbiadene.
